Important notification from NTA for Tamil Nadu applicants to JEE Main 2024

The National Testing Agency ( NTA ) has released an important notice for candidates residing in Tamil Nadu who are planning to apply for the Joint Entrance Examination Main ( JEE Main ) 2024. The notice pertains to the application process for candidates who have passed their Class 10 or Class 12 examinations in 2021.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Class 10 examinations for the 2021 batch were canceled, resulting in the issuance of mark sheets with the word "pass" instead of actual marks. To address this situation and ensure fairness for these candidates, the NTA has taken the following measures:

  • Disabled Result Mode Field:

When filling out the online application form for JEE Main 2024, candidates who have passed their Class 10 or Class 12 examinations in 2021 with the Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination (Secondary) will find the "Result Mode" field disabled. This means they will not be required to enter any marks or CGPA details.
  • Invisible Marks Fields:

Consequently, the fields for entering Total Marks, Obtained Marks, and Percentage of Marks will also be invisible for these candidates. This is to ensure that they are not penalized for the absence of marks due to the pandemic-related cancellation of examinations.
  • Application Form Updates:

For those candidates who have already submitted their JEE Main 2024 application forms, the NTA will automatically disable the "Result Mode" field and make the "Marks" fields invisible.

This initiative by the NTA demonstrates its commitment to providing equal opportunities for all candidates, regardless of any unforeseen circumstances or disruptions to their academic journey. Candidates from Tamil Nadu who have passed their Class 10 or Class 12 examinations in 2021 can proceed with their JEE Main 2024 applications without any concerns regarding the absence of marks on their mark sheets.
